HMRC's scheme requires all business-related transactions and tax returns to be recorded using MTD compliant software. VAT-registered businesses with a threshold greater than £85k will be required to keep digital records and submit VAT returns using MTD compatible software. In addition to this, the application of MTD removes the majority of inaccuracies and inefficiencies which occur and hinder paper tax filing overall improving the quality of accounts.
